Host/Hostess

Are you the welcoming personality we need at our resort on beautiful Bonaire? At Van der Valk Plaza Resort Bonaire, we welcome guests from around the world. We are looking for an enthusiastic Host/Hostess who not only ensures a warm welcome but also makes our guests' stay unforgettable in a positive way. When the restaurant is open, you are the first face guests see. With your friendly demeanor, you instantly put guests at ease. During your rounds through the restaurant, you easily strike up a conversation with guests and remember what they share. If a guest didn't sleep well because of a hard pillow, you know how to contact the right departments to resolve it. If a guest mentioned their kayaking trip through the mangroves, you're thoughtful enough to ask the next day how it went. Additionally, you assist guests with tips about Bonaire, recommendations for tours, and help generate foot traffic for our shop, Trento.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: 

• Welcoming guests in the restaurant; 

• Making rounds in the restaurant and engaging in conversations with guests; 

• Answering guests' questions and sharing recommendations about the island, hotel, and their stay; 

• Recognizing complaints and forwarding them to the appropriate department; 

• Assisting at the front office outside restaurant hours, welcoming and assisting guests;

You are full of energy and find great satisfaction in engaging with guests and helping them. No question is too crazy for you. Your smile is always present while you work. Hospitality for you means going the extra mile to ensure our guests leave the hotel with a smile.

Our all-inclusive resort is located in the most beautiful spot on Bonaire: right by the sea. Our guests can snorkel and dive from the beach, admiring one of the island's most beautiful reefs. They also enjoy a stunning view of Klein Bonaire from our beach.

ADDITIONALLY, YOU CAN EXPECT: 

• A salary between $1,800 and $2,200 gross per month, commensurate with your knowledge and experience; 

• Working within an entrepreneurial family business, in a beautiful setting, and an international community.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR: 

• A candidate who is representative, friendly, warm, guest-oriented, and solution-focused; 

• Full-time availability and flexibility, including evenings, weekends, and holidays; 

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; 

• Preferably proficient in Dutch, English, Papiamento, and Spanish; however, this is negotiable.
